In reference to Monterock’s second annual support of the Mykonos Running Festival, Petros Stathis, the Founder and Chairman of the company, propels an approach to social responsibility which predominantly focuses on local causes, especially in areas where Monterock’s portfolio projects are situated: “We are excited and proud to sponsor and participate in the Mykonos Running Festival for the second year in a row, promoting athletic tourism on the island. The second Mykonos Running Festival will begin on Friday the 22 of September with the Peace Race ceremony, conveying the timely messages of peace and dialogue between people. This will be followed by the official Opening Ceremony of the event. The activities will continue on Saturday the 23 of September where the events and excitement happening in parallel will culminate on Sunday the 24 of September. The official competition schedule includes the International Half Marathon Road – Mykonos Gold (starting time 09:00). This race offers an unforgettable running experience in the most beautiful parts of the most popular tourist destination, there will also be the 10.000m. Road Race – Mykonos Run (starting time 08:45), which is on a seaside route overlooking the endless blue of the Aegean Sea and tendered to championship and intermediate level runners. Finally, later in the day there will also be the 2.500m. Road Race – Mykonos Family Fun (starting time 12:00), which is a route of sport, entertainment and tourism for families to enjoy together, a true running tour of Mykonos.
Among others, the parallel events include, a Kids’ Athletics program, a holistic retreat wellness program, an organization of a music concert and a beach party in honor of the runners, a local gastronomy festival, guided tours of archeological and religious sites, as well as a variety of other activities that will turn the festival into an unforgettable autumn experience of sport and culture.
Mykonos Running Festival is organized by the Municipality of Mykonos in cooperation with MEAS Triton, organizer of the International Marathon “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” and the International Thessaloniki Night Half Marathon, which are also cooperating events, as well as with the support of EAS SEGAS of Cyclades and numerous institutional and voluntary support organizations. The event is a regular member of the AIMS World Marathon and Distance Running Federation and is conducted in accordance with the regulations of the World Athletics Federation (World Athletics) on race courses that bear its official certification.
