Monterock International participates in Mykonos Running Festival

Mykonos Running Festival (MRF), a multi-day experience, is based on major sporting events' standards and is open to all ages and fitness levels. This year, for the first time, it was organised on Mykonos Island, providing high quality tourism opportunities for both the participants and the local community, highlighting the island under an athletic vantage point.

In its inaugural year, the three-day event successfully gained a place in the world’s athletic tourism events scene. Monterock International has been a proud participant and grand sponsor of the Mykonos Running Festival, organized by the Municipality of Mykonos and the MEAS Triton sports federation. Some of the MRI employees were delighted to participate in one of the three races which took place during the weekend (half-marathon, 10km & 2.5km family run), and N Hotel Mykonos (of MRI’s latest hospitality concepts based in Mykonos) hosted the MRF committee and some of their guests at the Hotel’s restaurant for lunch.

Olympic champions and celebrated individuals from various fields of sports participated in the races, including Lefteris Petrounias (still rings), Vassiliki Millousi (artistic gymnast), Miltos Tentoglou (track and field athlete / long jump), Spyros Gianniotis (swimmer / long-distance and open-water freestyle events), Christos Volikakis (track cyclist), Giorgos Printezis (former professional basketball player) and Makis Kalaras (Paralympic medalist). In conjunction with the main running events, the 1st Mykonos Running Festival was held in accordance with the regulations of the World Athletics Federation and has been supported by various environmental, cultural and social responsibility organisations.
